Elizabeth and Kyle
Monday, August 18, 2008 | wedding

Elizabeth is so sweet and sometimes very quiet but there is always a way to get her to react... just mention Kyle's name.  She will always smile and then start laughing.  When I met Kyle for the first time in March for their engagement session I realized right away why the mention of his name made her smile and laugh.  He's strong, in command and quite often pretty funny.  Elizabeth and Kyle's wedding day seemed so relaxed and stress free.  They decided to see each other before the ceremony at club continental on the St. John's River.

Below are a few favorites from that time...

Yes, I know, more palms.
Monday, August 11, 2008 | florida

Below I mentioned how much I love to fish.  Many people who read this blog will argue that I love to take pictures of palms more than fish because they show up around here so much.  I can't help myself, I'm a fourth generation palm lover!  My grandmother, a native conch, lived in colorado for 13 years when I was little.  One of my favorite pictures is of her hugging a palm tree while visiting home.

A tribute to the commercial fishermen of the florida keys!

Lobstering in the Keys
Monday, August 11, 2008 | wedding

As promised I finally have some pictures from our trip to the keys.  We try to make a trip down every year to see family but aren't always so successful.  This year we were able to make the lobster mini-season which is a two-day mad house!  It's fun though.

Half way to the keys I realized I forgot my little camera.  So I had to borrow my aunt's and I have to say that her camera takes the WORST pictures I've ever seen!!  Sorry Aunt Mary Ann.  It's sad but true.  :(  Unfortunately her camera closely resembles the underwater camera so it no longer works...

The first day we went dolphin fishing.  Photography and fishing don't mix so this is all I have to post from that day.  If you know me well you know that there isn't anything I love to do more than fish.

My uncle ready to dive for a deep lobster.

At the end of a long day and wearing all that gear I love to get rid of my flippers and mask and just swim around while everyone else works.  This was taken during that time and probably the last picture that sorry little camera took.

Proof that the Polaroid point-and-shoot is the worst camera ever created.  Either way here's a pic of me and Ryan.

Rob Munroe: what are the chances of you guys putting that lobster on ice and sending it up here to NY on vacation. (08/12/08, 10:44)
Chris Harvey: Sharpening not work to well on that picture? Looks like you printed it at Walgreen´s,then scanned it, then took a picture of your scan, and then scanned that. High quality stuff. Great low noise in the bright sunlight. Just messing with you. Glad to see you had a little fun at least. We all know your real stuff rocks. Later girl. (08/12/08, 10:44)
Teresa: UGH, little cameras do suck sometimes.  They are so easy to carry vs. the dlsr, but the pics aren´t always great!  It looks like ya´ll had a blast. It´s nice to get away sometimes!   (08/11/08, 05:50)

Exciting News!
Tuesday, July 22, 2008 | business

I was going to wait to share this news until I had images to post - but I'm just too excited to wait!

At the exact time I was sitting in my home office thinking that I HAD to get a bigger workspace, our local and international photographer, Susan Stripling, contacted me with a too-good-to-be-true opportunity.  Over the last couple of years Susan's blood, sweat and tears (well maybe not blood) went into the construction and design of an amazing 5500 sq ft studio here in downtown Tallahassee.  The time has come for her to move the home base of her business to NY.  While Tallahassee will greatly miss her, I can't be more excited about this opportunity.

On August 1st we're packing up the tiny office and moving into the new studio!

So what does this mean for my out of town wedding clients?  Not much except when you call or email me I will be communicating from a really cool location.  What this does mean is that I will be adding a whole new dimension to my business.  While I will continue to shoot location portraits, I will now offer studio sessions as well.  When I mention the words "studio" and "portrait" most people think backdrops, sears and "say cheese" but it's everything but those things!  The studio was designed to let in natural light throughout the entire day and made up of vaulted ceilings, white walls and enormous windows - every inch of it screams creativity!  My focus will be the same in the studio as it is in my client's homes - focusing on the emotions and personalities of the little ones!

More updates and images coming soon.  Stay tuned...
